Walking between the windmills on the famous Zaanse Schans, enjoy the traditional Dutch historic fishing village of Volendam, located on the former Zuiderzee. A visit to the cheese farm where you can taste and buy the real Dutch cheeses. after Volendam, a visit to the beautiful village of Marken is a must. With our professional guide driver you can enjoy the beautiful landscape, the rustic villages located between the Dutch meadows and windmills.

From Nadia hotel the tour goes under the North Sea channel to the north of the province “North Holland”” The first stop is at the windmills at Zaanse Schans. A stay of 1 hour is more than sufficient for most visitors.

After that it is about a 30 minute drive to Volendam. The beautiful and famous fishing village on the former Zuiderzee. Our experience is that a stop of 1.5 hour is sufficient. If you want to have lunch in one of the many cozy (fish) restaurants, you need a little more time.

Marken As Marken used to be flooded on a regular basis, residents built their homes on earth mounds, and then on mounds (’terpen’). You’ll never find these characteristic little houses anywhere else in the world. Marken was separated from the mainland in the 13th century by a storm. There then followed centuries of isolation for the population, who earned their daily bread by fishing. Marken was only connected to the mainland in 1957 by building an embankment, and has been a peninsula since then. Nonetheless, Marken has still kept its authentic character and the residents cherish their traditions.
